The Ubiquiti G3 Starter Kit Pro is a starter set designed for the UniFi Access system. It consists of a hub, one G3 Reader Pro, one G3 Reader, and additionally 2 NFC keyfob cards. It allows you to control the opening state of a single pair of doors, provided that a compatible electric or magnetic lock is used. The G3 Reader Pro is intended for controlling entry to a given area (it supports many more functions), while the G3 Reader is used for controlling exits. Both readers allow door access using Touch Pass (tapping a phone), an NFC card/keyfob, or the mobile app. The Pro version additionally features a camera and a touchscreen, enabling it to function as a video intercom and allowing doors to be unlocked with a PIN code. The G3 Reader also supports gesture-based unlocking (waving a hand), which is useful if it’s used for managing exits. The hub has 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, including 1 port with PoE++ input (802.3bt) and 4 ports with PoE output (802.3af). You can directly connect and power the readers, as well as optionally connect IP cameras.

Door Hub

The set includes a hub designed to handle a single pair of doors. It requires the use of a compatible electric or magnetic lock (you can use solutions from Ubiquiti or other manufacturers). The device has an alarm connector, which will unlock the connected doors in the event of a fire alarm. The Door Hub is equipped with 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mbps). The first port provides PoE++ input (802.3bt), while the remaining ports provide PoE output (802.3af), with a total maximum power budget of 45 W. This allows you to connect and power two readers simultaneously, while the remaining ports can be used, for example, to connect IP cameras.

G3 Reader Pro

The G3 Reader Pro features a touchscreen for operation as well as a built-in camera, microphone, and speaker. This allows it to function as a video intercom, enabling guests to make voice calls. In addition, with the G3 Reader Pro, you can unlock doors using a PIN code, NFC card/keyfob, Touch Pass (by tapping a phone linked to an Apple/Google account), or through the mobile app. The Pro version reader is primarily intended for managing entry into a given location.

G3 Reader

The second reader included in the set is simpler, without a screen or camera. You can unlock doors using NFC cards/keyfobs, Touch Pass (by tapping a phone linked to an Apple/Google account), or the mobile app. Additionally, the G3 Reader supports gesture-based unlocking by waving a hand. This particular feature makes it especially suitable for controlling doors used by people exiting a location.

Application

The offered product is a set that enables you to run support for a single pair of doors within the UniFi Access system. All you need to purchase separately is a compatible lock and, if you’re not using a PoE switch at the location, a suitable power source. The kit is an excellent choice for offices where you want to implement access control for a specific room or multiple rooms.
